Dr. Alaa Al Hawari is a full professor at the department of Civil and Architectural Engineering at Qatar University. He obtained his master degree and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. Dr. Al Hawari has more than 15 years of experience in the area of Environmental Engineering. Dr. Al Hawari’s main areas of research interest are drinking water treatment and wastewater reclamation/reuse, with specific expertise in membrane rejection and fouling, biosorption and selective adsorption. Dr. Al Hawari has led several research projects funded from Qatar Foundation. The projects were mainly related to membrane fouling, enhancing of membrane processes in wastewater treatment applications and non-destructive monitoring of sewer and water networks. Dr. Al Hawari worked on more than 15 research projects in Canada, Germany, Qatar and Jordan. Most of these projects were related to water and wastewater treatment. Dr. Al Hawari managed to secure funds just over 2.9M US dollars. Dr. Al Hawari received several awards from the college of engineering at Qatar University in recognition to his excellent research work and excellent publications in reputable high impact factor journals. Dr. Al Hawari has more than 70 technical papers published in high impact international journals and more than 20 international conference papers.
