Enrico Doria is a researcher at the University of Pavia. He obtained PhD in genetic and biomolecular science; he is plant physiologist and biochemist scientist. During his academic career he has dealt with several topics, mainly focused on the biofortification of several staple crops to use for selection and breeding programs through the analysis and characterization of nutraceutical/anti-nutraceuticals compounds with health implication. During the last years he carried out a project regarding the valorisation of agro-industrial waste as source of high added value products endowed with a large variety of biological activities, setting up an innovative and sustainable extraction method based on a bacterial-assisted enzymatic pre-treatment. Based on this research area, with other colleagues, he is founding an innovative start-up. This innovative and sustainable system is also used for the extraction of phytochemicals with important biological activity from aromatic and medicinal plants, principally growing in the arid regions of Tunisia. During his career, he spent long time in several international institutes, in India, Ecuador, South Africa, Denmark and Tunisia. He is author of around 40 publications in international peer reviewed journals, member of editorial board of international journal and he has participated in numerous national and international congresses.
