Obed Opoku is a qualified animal nutritionist with special interest and experience in Swine and Poultry nutrition and management. He has in the past years been involved in the teaching and research of Animal production and management related programmes at the Department of Animal Science, KNUST. Under the mentorship of the seasoned professors at the Department, Obed is actively and practically involved in the training of young graduates in the field of Animal Science. He is a volunteer facilitator and demonstrator for several Animal Science courses including Anatomy and Physiology of farm Animals, Poultry production and Management, Swine and Poultry nutrition, Domestic Animal Behaviour, among others. As a young and upcoming scientist, his experience and knowledge in the Animal production industry has equipped him as a reliable consultant for numerous small holder and commercial animal farmers in and around Kumasi. Obed’s passion for teaching and research has seen him featured in a number of graduate and postgraduate projects, some of which are published in both local and international journals. Obed Opoku is currently pursuing a PhD in Animal nutrition at the KNUST and is expected to graduate by the end of the 2022/2023 academic year. Obed's career objective has always been ''To develop my career as a professional agriculturist in a professionally oriented environment, in order to improve on my leadership and managerial skills in my chosen career and hence contribute positively towards the socio-economic development of my country and the world at large in every sector of the agricultural industry, particularly in Animal Production.'' His research focuses mainly on ''Alternative protein sources for profitable Swine and Poultry production, with special interest in Insect proteins.''
