Lievin Chirhalwirwa Mwilarhe
Born in Bukavu, DR Congo on 07/07/1966, Liévin CHIRHALWIRWA holds a Ph.D. in Architecture (Art de Bâtir et Urbanisme) from the Université libre de Bruxelles, Belgium. He worked as Vice-chancellor in charge of Academic Affairs at the Higher Institute of Architecture and Town Planning (ISAU/Kinshasa) while lecturing Architecture, History of Architecture, Construction and Town Planning as Associate Professor in three (3) DR Congo Universities. Liévin forged his experience in Infrastructure and housing matters as advisor then Deputy chief of staff in various ministries in the DR Congo before embracing an international career. He currently works with The Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Coordination Authority (An Institution bringing together 6 Member States of Burundi, DR Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan and Uganda) in the position of Director for Infrastructure Development and Management. Fields of research and publications: local materials in architecture; semi-urban habitat in developing countries; self-construction, evolutionary housing etc.
